TAT basics

TAT a.k.a Thematic Appreciation Test is the objective test employed by the selection board to test the personality of the candidate. On this test 12 random images are displayed on the screen where the candidates have to develop a logical story based on that. But to it is not as easy as you are thinking at the moment.

First of all, the candidates are under the strict time pressure where they are given only 4.5 minutes for a certain image i.e.(30 seconds to observe the image and 4 minutes to develop a logical story based on that).More than this the image shown in this test are not clear and appears hazy and dim so candidates have to utilize the 30 seconds to fully observe the image.

How this test observes the psychology of the candidate?
The candidates often think this test as a simple test where they have to develop only a story based on that particular image.  But this test is not as simple as you think. This is the best way to test the psychology of the candidates.
As the candidates are shown hazy or dim images for a short period of time, the candidates develop a story on the basis of their characteristics and their overall personality. With the short period of time the candidates don't have enough time to think and they develop the story on their instinct.

How is this test taken ?On what test day this test is taken?
This test is taken on the day of your Technical Officers of your overall psychological tests. On this test random 12 images are shown on the screen where the image is shown for around 30 seconds and the screen turns blank for 4 minutes where the candidate is allowed to develop a logical story.

Out of the 12 images, the image shown in the end will be a blank image where the candidates are allowed to develop any story based on their thinking.More than this in my personal view The Blank Image carries the most Weight age among compared to other 11 images as the candidates are allowed to develop any random story based on their overall thinking so in this blank image the candidate develop the story based on their overall personality.
